South African GRADE Network

The South African GRADE Network has the following aims:

  • To bring together contributors to GRADE within South Africa.
  • To jointly agree on the priorities and strategies for advancing GRADE activities.
  • To build on the extensive research and training experience of individuals within the network, to coordinate and maximise GRADE training, research and guideline activities in South Africa.

About GRADE

The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) working group began in 2000 as an informal collaboration with an interest in addressing the shortcomings of grading systems in healthcare. The working group has developed a common, transparent approach to grading quality (or certainty) of evidence and strength of recommendations. A GRADE centre or network serves as the hub within a region for GRADE-related questions, support and collaboration opportunities.

About the South African GRADE Network

The SA GRADE network contributes to capacity building and enhanced use of GRADE methodology within South Africa. SA GRADE is jointly led and managed by Centre for Evidence Based Health Care (CEBHC), Stellenbosch University and the Health Systems Research Unit, South African Medical Research Council.
