The SAMRC’s innovation divisions drive the organisation’s primary purpose – to promote better health for all South Africans and improve their overall quality of life.
With a focus on introducing new knowledge, techniques and products to improve health policies and practices to prevent and treat disease, the innovation divisions include the Technology Transfer Office, the Strategic Health Innovation Partnerships and the Global Health Innovation Accelerator.

Aspalathus linearis, commonly known as rooibos, is well known for its various health properties, some of which include anti-oxidant and stress-lowering activities. Rooibos is also rich in polyphenols and is the only plant known to contain the phenolic antioxidant, aspalathin.
