SAMRC researchers, Dr’s Darshini Govindsamy and Nwabisa Shai from our Health Systems and Gender and Health Research Unit, respectively, together with Angela Kaida (Simon Fraser University) form part of an international team that received a research award of nearly $1 million (CAD) from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

The SAMRC has been conducting responsive research and designing and testing programmatic solutions to tackle different forms of Gender Based Violence for almost 30 years.
- The reality of mental healthcare in South Africa is one that is often overlooked. With the fact that infectious and non-communicable diseases are rife and placing an already enormous burden on the health system, these often take precedence over mental healthcare.
