- Ensure the alignment of individual Key Result Areas (KRAs) to those of the units or department as well as those of the organisation
- Enable the cascading of organisational targets to units and individuals
- Facilitate process improvement activities or projects
- Collate performance of support departments against agreed upon SLAs

- Manage, coordinate, facilitate and oversee the preparation and development of the SAMRC’S Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan (APP),
- Ensure compliance in line with National Treasury Guidelines and Frameworks
- Coordinate, facilitate and oversee the preparation and development of Research Units Strategic Plans and APP’s
