Prof Susan Goldstein is a public health medicine specialist. She is leading a multidisciplinary team of health economists, lawyers and public health specialists to focus on the best buys for health especially to reduce non-communicable diseases (NCDs). 

She has a special interest in policy related research, both qualitative and quantitative, and using evidence to inform policy in the topic areas of Health Promotion, NCDs, Immunization, and the Social, Economic, Environmental and Commercial Determinants of Health. She has published widely in the field of public health. She sits on the International Monitoring Board for Global Polio Eradication as well as on the Board for the Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance.  

Prior to joining the Wits School of Public Health, she worked at the Soul City Institute for Social Justice. She was chair of the South African AIDS conference in 2017 and on the steering committee for the International Social and Behaviour Change Communication Summit in 2022. Orcid ID 0000-0002-3424-5319
