Frederic is the current Programme Manager of Research Capacity Development (RCD) Careers Awards/Grants at the SAMRC, where he manages a portfolio of strategic funding initiatives to strengthen South Africa’s health research capacity. Before joining the SAMRC, he held research positions at Stellenbosch University, the University of Cape Town, and Maastricht University. His expertise includes biomedical research, research management, evaluation, and capacity development. Frederic has supervised postgraduate students and contributed to scientific publications and international guidelines on research funding and capacity development. He is a member of the Essence on Health Research (research management working group). His interests include health research, science policy, innovation, and research evaluation.
