Lethu holds a background in Biomedical Engineering and African & African American Studies. She transitioned into public health after working in clinical research across academic hospital settings (critical care and emergency medicine), as well as in the pharmaceutical and biotech space. She is currently completing her MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Cape Town’s School of Public Health, where her research focuses on climate change indicators and their relationship with mortality in South Africa. Her broader research interests include improving the quality and utilization of cause-of-death data through systemic and analytical methodologies.
