PhD degree in Plant Biotechnology from the Institute for Plant Biotechnology at Stellenbosch University

In this role, Ebrahim assists the Office of the VP, President, and CEO in the portfolio of knowledge dissemination and research strategy. He also contributes to the Research Translation portfolio within Cochrane South Africa, assisting with research dissemination, teaching and evidence-informed research.

Ebrahim holds a PhD degree in Plant Biotechnology from the Institute for Plant Biotechnology at Stellenbosch University, with his academic training involving molecular biology and genetic engineering of plants for industrial applications. He also has post-doctoral experience and was hosted as a fellow at the Division of Medical Physiology at Stellenbosch University (Tygerberg campus) and the Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform at the SAMRC, where his research focused on diseases of lifestyle such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

He has served as a Science Writer and Editor within the Corporate and Marketing Communications Division at the SAMRC, where he was responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading of technical documents, including Annual reports, News articles, media statements and newsletters, policy briefs and internal communications. The role also involved science communication and research translation with stakeholders and community engagement. Ebrahim is also a certified Life Skills Coach Practitioner and author and has published four unique literary works.
