Dr Pinky Mahlangu is a Deputy Director in the Gender and Health Research Unit of the South African Medical Research. She has a PhD in Public Health from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She has an honorary appointment as an extraordinary lecturer with University of Pretoria, School of Health Systems and Public Health. Her research interests are on violence prevention and response, development and evaluation of evidence-based interventions for adolescents, girls and young women, including gender diverse populations. Among other studies, she is currently a co-principal investigator of a study adapting and evaluating sexual violence and mental health interventions for students in higher education institutions. Pinky has conducted an RCT, developed and evaluated holistic school intervention to prevent gender-based violence among South African grade 8 learners.
