Nancy Hornsby has an MA Degree in Clinical Neuropsychology and is currently collecting data for her PhD research which investigates the neuroimaging, neurohormone, and neurocognitive markers of adolescent heavy drinking. Her PhD is registered with the Department of Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University with a training component at the Neuroscience Division at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.

She is employed as a Senior Scientist in the Mental Health, Alcohol, Substance Use and Tobacco Research Unit with a main research interest in understanding the neurobiological and epigenetic mechanisms underlying alcohol and other drug use, specifically during adolescence.

She was involved in an extension of Project MIND in which mental health counselling was be expanded for delivery to at-risk youth and is currently managing the Treatment Demand and Community Harm Reduction components of the SACENDU Project.
