Education
Grace Baloyi has an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and is a BSc Honours graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand.

While at Wits she was introduced to the National System of Innovation(NSI) as a trainer for educating the general public about Biotechnology. She has since spent the last 15 years in the NSI working on project sourcing, funding and management and has worked on business such as Citrogold and assisted them create value from their Intellectual Property. She additionally spent 2 years in the finance industry working at Quartile Capital (now Tysys Capital Group) and increased her experience in deal structuring which helped her appreciate the gap between scientists and funders and how that often impacts technology commercialization.  In 2010 she joined the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) and worked on the health portfolio looking at medical devices and diagnostics as well as the FACTS Clinical trial which was a phase III, multicentre, randomized trial to assess the safety and effectiveness of the vaginal micobicide Tenofovir gel in the prevention of HIV in young women. She became a Programme Manager at TIA in the Innovation and Enabling unit in 2015 and was responsible for overseeing a number of Technology Stations, which are centers with scientists and high-end equipment, established to help small business and entrepreneurs improve their business competitiveness using the most up to date technology. This role additionally included representing TIA at various Management and Advisory Bord Committee meetings. She recently joined the MRC as a Senior Programme Manager and is responsible for the Global Health Innovation Accelerator (GHIA) and the Medical Device & Diagnostic Innovation Cluster (MeDDIC). Ms. Baloyi holds two fellowships she is a 2017 Mandela Washington YALI Fellow and a US State Department Professional Fellow.
