Education
Karabo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree majoring in Project Management and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) Degree in Business Management both from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
Advance Project Management Certificate from the University of Cape Town (UCT) with numerous short-courses in Intellectual Property Management and a Public Finance Management course from the University of Pretoria.

Karabo Kgomo joined the SAMRC: Grants Innovation and Product Development (GIPD) Unit as a Junior Project Manager in May 2016. Prior to joining GIPD, Karabo served as a Funds and Incentives Management Intern at the Department of Science and Innovation under the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO) and later moved on to serve as an Operations Officer at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Innovation Office.

Karabo ’s main functions as a Project Manager for the Grant Innovation and Product Development unit include managing a portfolio of projects aimed at addressing maternal and child health, antimicrobial resistance, TB, COVID-19, Precision Medicine through EU-Africa PerMed Consortium, and other priority diseases in South Africa, funded through the Strategic Health Innovation Partnerships (SHIP) and Grand Challenges South Africa programs of the SAMRC.
