Education
BSc Biotechnology graduate from the University of the Western Cape

Thandolwethu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from the University of the Western Cape. She has completed several courses through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), focusing on intellectual property fundamentals, the use and exploitation of patent information, and intellectual property management. Thandolwethu has also completed the Programme Evaluation course from Wits University and the Supporting Researchers: From Research to Commercialization course offered by SARIMA. Additionally, she participated in the 2023 WIPO-South Africa Summer School on IP and Technology Transfer.

Thandolwethu joined the SAMRC in May 2023 through the EWSETA-TIA Internship Program. She provides administrative and coordination support to the Global Health Innovation Accelerator (GHIA) program, the Medical Device and Diagnostic Innovation Cluster (MeDDIC) program, the TIA Seed Fund, and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO).

Her responsibilities include supporting pre- and post-award project management processes for multiply small to medium-sized projects and stakeholder engagement. Thandolwethu is also actively involved in supporting the Technology Transfer Office by promoting IP awareness, assisting with IP portfolio management, and IP due diligence for commercialization decisions.
