Phumla Khuluse is a public health professional and Master of Public Health candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Public Policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Community and Development Studies.

She currently serves as a Research Technologist within the Environment and Health Research Unit (E&HRU), contributing to projects within the Climate Change and Health Programme. Her role includes coordinating fieldwork activities.

Phumla has extensive experience in clinical trials and community-based research, having contributed to large-scale HIV prevention studies including trials evaluating innovative and recently approved long-acting HIV prevention lenacapavir.

Her research interests include health policy, climate change and health, and the social determinants of health. She is particularly committed to advancing health equity and contributing to evidence-based interventions that support Sustainable Development Goal 3, with a focus on improving health outcomes among vulnerable populations, especially AGYW.
