Anri joined BRIP in 2020 as a postgraduate student under the supervision of Dr Lawrence Mabasa, obtaining a BSc Hons and MSc in Medical Physiology from Stellenbosch University. Whilst pursuing her MSc degree, she joined the SAMRC’s Wastewater Surveillance and Research Project in 2021 as a Research Technologist responsible for sample processing and RNA and DNA extraction. In mid-2024, she moved to the Genomics Platform as a Laboratory Intern where she was trained on next-generation sequencing using MGI and ONT technologies. After completing the internship, she returned to BRIP to provide laboratory assistance to ongoing projects. She was appointed as a Senior Research Technologist as of January 2026.
