Research focus:

Masters (MSc) research is focused on the pathophysiology, prevention and treatment of metabolic disease as well as the investigation of anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties of polyphenols in curbing metabolic disease.

Biography:

Ms Nnini Obonye is a Research Technologist/Laboratory manager for the tissue culture laboratory at the SAMRC Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform.  Her primary role is to offer research support to the ongoing research projects related to mammalian cell culture, including in vitro tissue culture and aseptic technique training, method/protocol validation and management of the tissue culture laboratory.  Apart from providing research support, she is also currently working on her MSc project, which is also focused on metabolic disorders.  Ms Obonye is also skilled in molecular biology techniques (qRT-PCR and Western blot analysis)
