Brigitte is currently a bioinformatician at the SAMRC Genomics Platform. She holds a PhD from Stellenbosch University and is also Crick African Network Fellow working on the discovery of novel disease-causing variants in patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDs). Her project focuses on the use of next generation sequencing in young children with a suspected PID as well as individuals who have severe, persistent, unusual and recurrent episodes of TB. She has authored and co-authored a number of manuscripts on primary immunodeficiencies in South Africa and is involved in the translation of research results back to patient advocacy groups.
