Malaria Research Group

The Malaria Research Group, based at the South African Medical Research Council, Durban, funds and facilitates research to understand the social and biological impact of the disease as well as to develop malaria control programmes.

Key focus areas

  • Promote the MOMR’s administrative efficiency to maximise the funds available for research
  • Synthesise evidence and influence the management of malaria eradication initiatives.
  • Fund and facilitate basic and applied research to understand the social and biological determinants of health, as well as identify and develop novel interventions for malaria control.
  • Develop the future cadre of malaria researchers
