
Dr Prinsloo is co-Head to the WHO-Family of International Classifications Collaborating Centre (WHO-FIC CC) for South Africa (SA). The WHO-FIC CC is hosted within BODRU at the SAMRC, to support the development and implementation of the WHO core clinical classifications (ICD-11, ICF and ICHI) for SA. This will be addressed through ongoing participation in the international network of WHO-FIC CC’s, and in collaboration with the National Department of Health, Statistics South Africa, and other stakeholders in the implementation of clinical coding standards nationally.
As an Injury Epidemiologist and NRF C2 rated Scientist, her research with colleagues on national-level Injury Mortality Surveys (IMS) for 2009, 2017 and 2020/21, enabled monitoring of targets for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) for violence and road traffic mortality in South Africa. She is co-Principal Investigator on the SAMRC Flagship funded study on Alcohol diagnostic Validation for Injury-Related Trauma (AVIRT); and co-Principal Investigator to the ENGAGE-WC study: Exploring Non-fatal injury-data, Governance, Associated comorbidities and Grassroots Engagement in the Western Cape -in collaboration with The George Institute for Global Health, UK. She is affiliated to the University of Greenwich, London as Visiting Research Fellow; and Honorary Research Associate in the School of Public Health, UCT.
