
Ms. Sibeko is a Senior Research Technologist at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) within the Environment and Health Research Unit (EHRU). She holds an MSc in Biochemistry and has experience in HIV research, mucosal immunology, sanitation, water, and hygiene. Her research background includes microbiome–drug interactions, antimicrobial evaluations, and innovative approaches to water, urine, and faecal sludge treatment. She is skilled in advanced laboratory techniques and data analysis, applying these to both biomedical and environmental health research. Passionate about wastewater removal of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) such as pharmaceuticals and microplastics, she is committed to advancing solutions that protect public health and the environment.
