Millicent Maoto is a Scientist at the SAMRC’s Gender and Health Research Unit. She holds an MPhil in HIV/AIDS management from the University of Stellenbosch. Millicent joined the unit in 2024 and is currently working on projects such as Ntombi Vimbela, qualitative evidence synthesis focusing on GBV among gender diverse adolescence and the Well-Spring project which looks at co-developing coordinated strategies to prevent and respond to GVB against women in both South Africa and Brazil. Her research interest lies in the prevention of GBV, health and social inequalities focusing on women and gender diverse populations, alcohol-related vulnerability and inclusive healthcare.
