Ameena Goga is a paediatrician with a strong interest in preventing maternal and child co-morbidity, the epidemiology of early childhood illnesses, and community paediatrics. Over the past ten years her research focused on infant feeding and the early and late population-level impact of the South African Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) programme. More recently she has been involved in COVID-19-related epidemiological, diagnostic and vaccine studies. She holds an Extraordinary Professorship at the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Pretoria.
