Catherine is an HIV Clinician and Clinical Pharmacologist. She has been conducting HIV research studies at the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre and the University of Cape Town since 2002. She has been Lead and Principal Investigator on a range of efficacy, toxicity, interaction and dosing studies and is experienced in conducting research in both state-of-the-art research facilities and within community settings.

Her recent research focus has been on conducting clinical trials of novel methods to monitor and improve antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence (both PrEP and treatment); as well as exploring the use of long-acting antiretroviral therapy in young people and post-partum women living with HIV.
