Marian Loveday is a scientist with a focus on TB, drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) and health systems research. Her research over the last eight years has focused on evaluating different models of care for DR-TB patients across South Africa and how health systems performance impacts on programme performance. This work has included documenting the experiences of patients with DR-TB, the caregivers of children and the challenge of adherence in people living with HIV. She is the PI of an observational study documenting treatment, pregnancy and infant outcomes in women treated for DR-TB during their pregnancy and a co-investigator in the two studies nested within this, a pharmacokinetic and microbiome study. She is also leading a study documenting the treatment journey of people hospitalised with Advanced HIV Disease.
