Reshmi Dassaye is a basic scientist with a Masters and PhD in Medical Science. Her research interests are basic sciences imbedded in maternal-child health and community health through the implementation of clinical trials. At HIDRU, she is the PI of the CROWN Coronation Study, a randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial assessing the effectiveness of candidate interventions in mitigating COVID-19,  and the Co-PI of HVTN 139, a Phase I clinical trial, evaluating the safety and immunogenicity of HIV-1 vaccines based on chimpanzee adenovirus serotypes in HIV-uninfected individuals. Additionally, she is the PI of the COVID Kids Schools study (CoKiDSS), assessing the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in a triad of learners, their parents and teachers in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
