Kate Bergh is a Senior Scientist in the Health Systems Research Unit with over five years of experience working in sexual and reproductive health and HIV research, and evaluations for adolescent girls and young women, and pregnant women in sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa specifically. Most of her work at the SAMRC has revolved around survey scripting and data management for evaluations of combination HIV and pregnancy prevention programmes for women in South Africa. This has included managing datasets with over 5000 participants for the evaluations of the My Journey and Imagine Programmes. She is also in the process of finalising a PhD in Psychology at the University of Cape Town, which focuses on HIV-prevention cascades, a useful tool for monitoring and evaluating uptake and adherence to HIV-prevention methods within programmes, that can also be extended to pregnancy prevention. She has a Master of Public Health from Imperial College London, for which she conducted a secondary analysis of data on antenatal care for pregnant women in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi. She is familiar with various survey scripting and data management and analysis softwares, including: REDCap, SurveyToGo, Kobo Toolbox , STATA and NVivo.
