Education

Simon Lewin  has a keen interest in how research evidence can be used to strengthen health systems and services, through informing decisions at national and global levels. His research and policy work have focused particularly on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and the global level, including working with multilateral organisations such as the WHO on guideline development methods and health-systems guidance. Lewin has also done research on approaches for undertaking systematic reviews of complex health system interventions, and methods for synthesising the findings of multiple qualitative studies and assessing confidence in such findings. He is also a Co-lead of the Cochrane People, Health Systems and Public Health Thematic Group. At HSRU he is involved in the Global Evidence Local Adaptation (GELA) project, evidence-synthesis activities and research on the informal use of mobile phones by healthcare workers, among other projects.  He recently received the Award for Outstanding Research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
